Application Introduction of Centimeter-level RTK Positioning Pole
The RTK positioning pole is a high-precision positioning device, which is widely used in fields that require centimeter-level or even millimeter-level positioning accuracy. Its main applications include, but are not limited to, the following aspects.
In conclusion, the RTK GNSS positioning pole, with its high precision, stability, and flexibility, shows great application potential in multiple industries. However, it should be noted that although this technology has become relatively mature, it may still have limitations in specific environments. Therefore, a comprehensive investigation of the target area should be carried out before actual deployment, and other auxiliary means should be combined to ensure the best results.
Bynav X8-M1 Introduction
With support for L1, L2 and L5 bands, X8-M1 delivers RTK positions with accuracy of 1cm, featuring a GNSS antenna, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, and a built-in battery. Its ingress protection of IP67 and light weight of 104g expand its use for personnel tracking, vehicle positioning, pinpointing on centering rods and other applications. And it is easy to connect and configure through App and web.
Let's Use It to Draw Something
Preparation:
Befor starting to draw new year greetings, below items are necessary to prepare.
-
X8-M1 (With 4G sim inserted)
-
Android Phone (With By Center app installed)
-
Windows Laptop (With internet access and BY_Connect installed)
-
Ntrip Account (For accessing RTCM data)
-
TCP Server (For saving GGA data )
-
Open place (For receiving good signals)
-
RTKPLOT(For data processing)
Note:
-
Please contact en@bynav.com for the By Center app and BY_Connect software.
-
RTKPLOT is an open-source tool, which you can download from https://www.rtklib.com/.
X8-M1 Configuration
-
1. Please turn on X8-M1, and use android phone to connect with X8-M1 via By Center app through bluetooth.
-
2. Please click “RTCM source”, then fill in your ntrip accrount information, and finally click "SET".
-
3. If X8-M1 is in the open place with good signal reception, it should soon become "Fix" status.
-
4. Please click "NMEA frequency", then change GPGGA to 10Hz, and finally click "SET".
-
5. Please click "Data upload", then fill in your TCP server IP and port for data uploading, and finally click "SET".
Laptop Configuration
Please open BY_Connect on the Windows laptop, then follow below to fill in TCP IP and Port for data downloading, then after setting "File Path", click "Open", it will show the data output. Then you can change the "File Name" as you wish, and finally please tick "To Save" for saving data in your laptop for further use.
Drawing
-
1. Please choose an open place, and plan the proper routes and make some marks on the ground for drawing "Happy New Year 2025".
-
2. Please follow the marks and start to go with X8-M1.
-
3. After finishing drawing, then you can stop data saving by unticking "To Save".
Data Processing
-
1. Please open RTKPLOT tool on the windows laptop, and then configure it to decode the GPGGA messages as below.
-
2. Please open the saved data by RTKPLOT tool, and then you will see the ground tracking routes. For better showing the words, you need remove messages which are not associated with the words you drew. You can locate the messages by timestamps showing in RTKPLOT.
-
3. After removing those unassociated messages, then put the data file into RTKPLOT again, then you will see the routes showing the word you drew.
